What is a Healthy School?
A Healthy School is one that promotes the health and wellbeing of both its pupils and its staff. It does so using a well-planned, well-taught curriculum that is delivered in a physical and emotional environment that promotes learning and healthy lifestyle choices. In the Department for Education and Skills' Five Year Strategy for Children and Learning (2004) and the Department of Health's Public Health White Paper Choosing Health (2004), and as the Programme gains attention, it is likely that governors, parents and carers - and even pupils themselves - will want their schools to be involved.
