Chaired
by:
Susie Roberts, Chief Executive, Association Principal
Youth and Community Officers
Youth Services are going through many changes – making it
both an exciting and a challenging time for all those
working with young people. Supported by legislation, these
changes are not only placing more duties on Local
Authorities to deliver various aspects of youth services –
such as Information, Advice and Guidance and providing
positive activities for young people - but also demanding a
change in the way these services are delivered, planned and
commissioned.
This national one-day
Making Youth Services Matter conference will
provide you with guidance on commissioning services,
engaging young people and making a difference to both them
and their communities.
Benefits of Attending:
-
Hear from the key
policy makers driving the youth agenda
forward
-
Learn about emerging
commissioning practices from Local
Authorities who are implementing different models
-
Be inspired by the
young people presenting their thoughts and
experiences
-
Find out about the
Youth Voluntary Framework and what this means
for your organisation.

Keynote Speaker:
Sir
Alan Steer,
Headteacher, Seven Kings High School and Chairman,
Government Disciplinary Taskforce
Combating anti-social behaviour is firmly at the top of the
agenda. The publication of the Government’s
Respect
Action Plan and the
Steer Report,
followed by the establishment of the
Respect Task
Force and the
Disciplinary
Task Force are evidence of this. And the role of
schools in addressing aggressive behaviour, violence, bullying,
exclusion, truancy and low academic attainment is now also a key
Government priority.
This
timely and topical conference covers
Ofsted’s
view on how to improve behaviour in schools, the
changing
policy
context on behaviour and exclusions,
successful schemes
that have successfully dealt with anti-social behaviour and
a whole school and community approach to combat
the rise in anti-social behaviour amongst students.
Includes
expert speakers
from:
Ofsted,
Teacher Support Network,
Education Advisor to DfES,
George Green School
and
Sefton Children’s Services
