Developing Your Vision
|
School plans should take account of
the national, regional and local agenda.
Harnessing
Technology (359kB) outlines the DfES plan in relation to ICT and a copy has
been sent to all South Gloucestershire schools. It can also be
downloaded here.
http://www.dfes.gov.uk/publications/e-strategy/
The DfES have also produced an additional document entitled
Learning, Teaching
and Managing with ICT Funding Guidance (791kB) which also
provides an overview of the national priorities schools should
be taking into account.
Developing your strategic vision in ICT training, provided
through the BECTA Self-Review and Strategic Planning Network, can also
support development of your school vision. Further
information can be accessed on the
training page of the web
site.
The following provide resources to support development and
implementation of visions for ICT.
The
Primary Leadership Team Toolkit
(600kB) provides a wide range of
useful guidance and links under the headings of review, vision
and implement. The resources includes video case studies from
schools demonstrating a wide variety of perspectives and these
are incorporated into PowerPoint presentations which can be used
in staff, governor and leadership meetings.
The Leadership Team Toolkit was sent to all South
Gloucestershire schools but further copies can be ordered by
following the link below:

The secondary leadership team toolkit can also be accessed here
During the Developing Your Strategic Vision workshop a number of
ICT scenarios were used as a basis for discussion and these can
be accessed below.

The
South Gloucestershire Children and Young People plan
outlines our priorities in relation to schools.
The
E-education strategy agreed with South Gloucestershire head
teachers identifies specific ICT objectives for South
Gloucestershire.

Strategic planning
|
Teaching and Learning Advisers run
free workshops
supporting South Gloucestershire schools with the process of
self-review and planning for ICT. The workshops provide an
update on national, regional and local initiatives and also
address vision, review and implementation issues for ICT as well
as planning for change.
In order to support strategic planning South Gloucestershire
have worked with schools to develop a
SEF linked ICT plan
template (34kB). This template provides a framework for subject leaders
and head teachers to look at all aspects of ICT, identify areas
for development and also highlight the evidence that is in place
to support judgements. For South Gloucestershire schools which
are using School Centre, the template uses the School Centre
headings.
The Advisory ICT team have worked with schools to develop a
draft SEF linked Subject Leader action timeline
(excel spreadsheet 19kB) . This can be
downloaded and adapted to suit your own school position.

School Self-review
|
Strategic planning for ICT should
be based on a detailed review of the school position. Becta have
produced a
self-review
framework which we recommend schools use to review their
provision for ICT.
http://schools.becta.org.uk/index.php?section=srf
The framework requires that school leaders make
judgements in relation to the following areas:
- Leadership and management
- Curriculum
- Learning and teaching
- Assessment
- Professional development
- Extending opportunities for learning
- Resources
- Impact on pupil outcomes
Schools can also review their current position using
curriculum audit information compared with Becta annual review
information which can be accessed on the.
The Becta review 2006 can be accessed here.
Curriculum audit templates can be accessed below. These support
reviewing the current position to inform planning: |

Becta review 2006 indicated that
teachers feel they need training in
These can then
inform planning for ICT.
There are a number of self-evaluation tools which will
support schools with monitoring their current position: |
| Atmospheric walk audit |

| Monitoring ICT work
evidence audit |

Policies
|
Schools should have an ICT policy
in place. A sample SEF linked ICT policy is available below for
schools to adapt.

| South Gloucestershire have also
produced guidance on
acceptable use of ICT which can be used to inform school
policies. This can be accessed through the Health & Safety page. |
